These are just some of the random things that happened to me over the last 14 years of running my business Goodordering.

Despite things being difficult right now i'm trying my best to keep positive and one of the ways i have done this is to reflect on some of the positive things that have happened with my business over the years.

Many retailers have closed their doors, with rising online shopping and rental increases, many shops cannot afford to pay staff and overheads to stay open even if they have a huge name, history and following. This is heart breaking to witness.

I started my business Goodordering back in 2012 on a shoe string budget, working at my kitchen table and using my own savings to support the growth of the business. This has set me up well for knowing how to keep my small business ticking over in difficult climates like now.

Over the years, press has helped spread the word about my small business, but press alone doesn't really make huge differences in sales figures. I have learnt this myself the hard way over the years.

Supportive and enthusiastic customers are great not just for the sales and happy customers but because they (you) have also helped me with marketing - through word of mouth marketing, this is the life blood of a small business and an aspect i have grown to value more and more over the years. With rising e-marketing costs such as facebook and instagram ads which basically eat into any profit from the online marketing itself.

So for now, i need to cut back on costs and focus on the basics of running my business. Making sure that outgoings are less than incomings and ensuring that my customers realise the predicament i am in, in the off chance they can help me with their support.
I will keep going with my marketing, social media posts and hustling for opportunities to sell my products whilst at the same time, looking after my own physical and mental health along the way so i don't burn out.
Thank you! xxx Jacqui
