Named after my wife Mia, this very special leather hand bag has been hand crafted in Cumbria in the north of England. It is a collaboration between us at Goodordering and an old traditional bag manufacturer called Chapman.
It is made from dry waxed canvas with beautiful leather trim and bindings. It was hard to decide what colour to choose for this first bag, in the end we went for a dark navy blue which contrasts with the white leather binding so nicely.
As a limited run, you will be the owner of one of 20 bags made.

Each bag is assembled and finished individually.
There is a specific technique for attaching the white leather binding that goes around the whole bag. The leather binding is soft and supple and goes nicely around the corners. The white binding is a signature detail for Goodordering so it was great to find a factory that could make this bag and do justice to the detailing.
The leather piece is fed through a feeder to enable it to be pulled into the machine at the exact time and correct tension for the machine to stitch it into the bag.
All the separate parts are gathered together in tubs like this one, keeping everything clean and organised for this project.
This is the leather binding which is cut to the correct size that will wrap around the edge of the bag.
Each bag comes with its own drawstring bag, otherwise known as a dust bag, this keeps the bag in good shape when it is not being used. There are other alternative uses for the dust bag, which you can read about here on this blog post.

Getting the bags all lined up and ready to package up to send off to ME:) It was one of the most exciting projects i had done up until then, these bags were made september 2018 which was almost 4 years ago now. The bags retail for £180 so they are more difficult to sell, especially when most of our customers are used to £90 being the normal price for a large bag.
